Kosugi Tengai made "Kwaadaardige wind, liefdevolle wind- eerste deel" with ink and colour on paper. I'm struck by how this isn't just an image, it's an object, a book; you can see the texture of the cover, almost feel it, right? It’s got this lovely, muted palette, like old wallpaper, and the gold lettering pops just enough to catch your eye. The floral pattern on the side is so delicate, like a whisper. Look closely, and you'll see the way the artist has used a very fine brush to create these intricate details. It's not about perfection, but about capturing the essence of the form. I can imagine Tengai carefully laying down each layer of colour, building up the surface. This kind of meticulousness reminds me of Hokusai, how he was always chasing the perfect wave. Art’s like that, always searching, always changing.
