Editor: This photograph, Untitled (Mexico City), is by Bill Dane. I am just struck by the layered wall in the background—it looks like sedimentary rock, or maybe even an archaeological dig. What do you see in this piece? Curator: That layered effect is certainly eye-catching! It reminds me of palimpsest—a manuscript where old writing is scraped off to make room for new, yet traces of the old remain. Perhaps Dane is hinting at the layers of history and culture embedded within Mexico City itself. Editor: That's a beautiful way to put it. Now I see how the mundane setting almost acts as a canvas, ready for its story to be told. Curator: Precisely! It's an invitation to consider what stories urban landscapes hold, if only we take the time to look. Editor: I'll definitely keep that in mind. Thanks! Curator: My pleasure. It's a journey we are both embarking on, after all.
