Editor: Here we have James Casebere's black and white photograph, "Storefront." It's incredibly stark and empty. It almost feels like a stage set. How do you interpret this work? Curator: It certainly feels like a stage, doesn’t it? For me, Casebere captures that feeling of modern alienation. The emptiness isn't just physical; it's emotional. It's like a dreamscape, asking us what’s being sold here… if anything. Does that resonate with you? Editor: I think so! It feels haunted somehow, even though nothing's actually there. Curator: Exactly! It's the ghost of consumerism. It makes you wonder about the stories we tell ourselves about desire and satisfaction, doesn’t it? Editor: It really does. I never thought about it that way.
