Fernand Léger made "La Chaise jaune" with oil on canvas, it’s a still life that takes on the guise of abstraction. The color palette pops, with yellows, blues, reds and greens all outlined in thick black. Look at how Léger applies paint. It's not about hiding the process, but about laying it bare, each stroke a testament to the act of creation. The textures are flat and industrial. Note the thick black line, especially on the chair, how it confidently asserts itself, dividing space and defining form with graphic precision. It’s like he's building with color, stacking shapes, not too dissimilar to my own approach, building my canvases with layers, pushing and pulling until an image appears. It’s a nod to Picasso, but with Léger's own industrial twist. Both artists show us that art isn't about mimicking reality, but about constructing new ways of seeing. Embracing ambiguity, sparking conversations across time.
