Ivan Milev made this artwork, Decor with Birds, using watercolor on cardboard. Look at all the different shapes and colours! It’s like a puzzle coming together, bit by bit. You can see a place of refuge with imagined creatures perched amongst stone walls. How exciting to create something with the simple, yet powerful medium of watercolor. Each stroke, each layer builds on the last, creating depth and texture. I can almost feel Milev carefully mixing his paints, experimenting with different washes and glazes. Imagine him thinking about how to build form and how to represent space. I'm reminded of other painters like Hilma af Klint who created imaginary worlds that invite us into the realm of dreams. It’s a process of ongoing conversation, isn’t it? Each artwork inspires the next, a continuous exchange of ideas across time. It really shows that painting is an embodied expression, open to different perspectives, allowing for endless interpretations.
