Simone Forti created "Huddle" as an integral hologram, exploring the dynamics of human interaction through the lens of technology. Forti’s work emerges from a background deeply rooted in the experimental dance and performance scenes of the 1960s. The hologram presents an intriguing intersection between the physical and the virtual, echoing Forti’s interest in how bodies navigate space and relate to one another. In Forti's performances, the huddle is a physical act of coming together, of sharing weight, body heat, and emotional support. But here, it’s rendered as a shimmering, ethereal image. The figures seem to support each other, which evokes feelings of intimacy and reliance, yet it also holds an aspect of distance due to its holographic form. By transforming this fundamental human act into a hologram, Forti encourages us to reflect on our own relationships with physicality, technology, and community. What does it mean to huddle, to touch, to support, when our realities are increasingly mediated through screens? How do these new forms of interaction affect our sense of self and our connection to others?
