Lars-Erik Husberg made this print called "The Three Trees" with etching. I like to imagine the artist outside somewhere in nature, working directly from life. What was it like for Lars-Erik to look closely at the landscape and capture the way light falls on the trees and the sky? The marks are amazing – they make the trees look alive. Husberg is an expert in using the etched line to create depth. The lines create a sense of light and shadow. And the looming dark sky almost feels like its raining, don’t you think? It feels like there’s a conversation happening across time, with artists like Rembrandt who also turned to etching to evoke landscapes. It shows how art is an ongoing process, and artists are always responding to what came before, finding their own way to see the world.
