Hifa Cybe made this photograph, “Lost & Found,” with what looks like a camera and maybe some digital tools to shift the experience of time. There’s a shadowy interior, and then this central form made of many bodies, all tangled up. This blurry figure is fascinating. It's like Cybe layered bodies on top of each other, freezing movement into a still form. I keep thinking about that gesture of bringing forms together and how that might reveal something about life, or maybe death, or how those things are always mixed up. The colour palette is very dark and brown, and that adds to the drama and mood. I'm also reminded of other photographers who explore similar themes of identity and transformation, like Cindy Sherman or Lucas Samaras. It’s a conversation about what art can do, about how it can push us to see and feel things in new ways. It’s all about opening things up rather than pinning them down.
