Insects

They almost seem to be dancing or floating. Do you think he was deliberately going for a sense of… unease? Curator: Unease, perhaps not deliberately, but that might speak to our modern interpretation. Ensor was a bit of a provocateur. I wouldn't be surprised if he was hinting at the fragility of the natural world, maybe even a bit of morbid humor. Think of these sketches as quick thoughts – fleeting glimpses of life, beauty, and perhaps something slightly more sinister lurking beneath.
