Editor: Here we have an intriguing print called "Purgatory: The Terraces of the Wrathful and Slothful (Canto XVII)," by an anonymous artist. I'm struck by the stark contrast and the almost chaotic energy. What’s your take on this piece? Curator: Well, this piece dives headfirst into the messy business of self-improvement, doesn’t it? I imagine the artist, whoever they were, wrestled with their own demons, just like Dante. It’s like a spiritual obstacle course, transforming anger and apathy into something resembling grace. Notice how the figures seem to be climbing a mountain of their own making? Perhaps, we all are. Editor: That's a great image! I hadn't considered the idea of the mountain as self-constructed. Curator: Art, at its best, is like a mirror reflecting bits of ourselves back to us. Editor: I’ll definitely look at it differently now. Thanks!
