Picasso made this watercolor painting, Seated woman in green, at no known date. It’s all about the process, you can see how the thin washes of color were quickly brushed on to the paper. The painting has these simple lines, almost like scribbles, that make up the woman’s figure. I love the way the green and yellow blend together, creating a sense of warmth and light. Look at the way the paint drips down the page. It gives the whole piece a feeling of movement and energy. It’s like Picasso was trying to capture a fleeting moment. I think Picasso and Van Gogh would have gotten along. They both used art to express their inner worlds and made marks with a similar expressive energy. For me, art is all about experimenting, and it's not about perfection. It’s about finding new ways of seeing and feeling.
