This Windsor Chair was rendered on paper by Louis Plogsted. It looks like he used watercolor, maybe with some pencil for the detailed line work. There’s something so charming about the humble palette of browns and tans; it makes the whole thing feel very grounded. I love how Plogsted really commits to showing us the details, like the slight variations in the wood grain on the seat. You can almost feel the texture. And notice how the legs are slightly uneven? It gives the chair such a quirky, handmade personality. It's as if Plogsted wanted to capture not just the chair, but the very essence of its being. It reminds me of some of the early American folk art I've seen, where the artists were more interested in capturing the spirit of the thing than in perfect representation. It's a great reminder that art isn't about perfection; it's about seeing and feeling.
