Curator: Well, hunting scenes like these were incredibly popular, often romanticizing the relationship between the aristocracy and the land. How do you think Landseer engages with this tradition, and perhaps, challenges it? Editor: I guess it seems to glorify the hunt and the dominance of humans over nature. Curator: Exactly. This imagery served to reinforce social hierarchies. The Landseer family was very influential, helping to shape cultural values, but at what cost to our understanding of nature? Editor: That's a perspective I hadn't considered, how art can support social structures.
