Martiros Sarian made "Spring in my garden" with paint, I imagine mixed with linseed oil for that luminous glaze. Look at how the brushstrokes bloom, layering up to create those frothy trees, practically vibrating with spring energy. I can almost feel Sarian standing there, in the cool, dappled sunlight of his garden. Did he squint at the glare, mixing white with just a touch of blue and yellow? I bet he was trying to capture not just the look but the feeling of that fleeting moment, that ephemeral burst of life. He's like, "How do I get this light? How do I make the invisible visible?" That woman bending over the garden; it might be Sarian's wife. Maybe she's planting something new, or just tending what’s already there. Either way, it is the everyday rhythms that we cherish, made new in paint, which in turn inspire more paintings, more conversations, more gardens.
