This "Pocket Case," was designed by William Vergani and is rendered with a lovely use of brown watercolours. The application feels like a journey in itself, a patient layering of shades to give the case a rich, almost marbled depth. It’s this process-oriented approach that really draws me in. The material aspects of the work are quite pronounced. The watercolour is applied in thin, transparent washes, allowing the paper's texture to peek through. Notice how the brown hues swirl and blend, especially on the case's flap. Vergani coaxes the pigment into these mesmerizing patterns, which is echoed by the technical drawings that surround the central image. This piece reminds me a bit of the work of Josef Albers, in the way that Vergani explores form and perception through subtle variations in colour and shape. "Pocket Case" invites us to appreciate the beauty found in the everyday, transforming the mundane into something quite special.
