This untitled work by Zdzislaw Beksinski is like staring into a dream, maybe one of those dreams you're not sure if you want to wake up from. There's a real sense of process here, a kind of organic growth in the way the marks build up. The colors are muted, earthy. The painting is thick in places, almost like a relief. You can see how he built up layers, especially in the strange, thorny growth that crawls all over the architecture. Those textures invite you to reach out and touch, even though you know you can't. I love how Beksinski lets the paint do its thing, letting gravity and chance play a role. It reminds me of the surrealist landscapes of Max Ernst, where the unexpected emerges from the depths of the subconscious. Art is, after all, an ongoing conversation, a way of seeing and feeling the world, and maybe, just maybe, glimpsing something beyond.
