Davila's 'Space after Space' is a site-specific installation, a meditation on volume and light. The piece unfolds like a geometric puzzle, a process of construction that seems to be about both building and unbuilding. Materially, it's a game of contrasts, this floating plane of bright gallery lights and soft white surfaces against the stony architecture of the venue. Look how the harshness of the florescent tubes is mediated by those muted beige boxes. It's a sculptural dance between the industrial and the handmade. And that's what makes it so special. It’s not just about what's there, but also about the space it creates, both physically and conceptually. Think about Donald Judd, another artist interested in spatial awareness. But where Judd is all about austere perfection, Davila brings a sense of play, like he's inviting us to rearrange the building blocks of our perception. Ultimately, 'Space after Space' is an open question, a reminder that art is always a conversation, never a final statement.
