Aboudia made this painting called Graffitis with paint, and I can feel the energy of the city running through it. It’s a process, a layering, a kind of conversation with the wall itself. The material aspect here is all about texture. Thick, almost viscous blacks and oranges create these figures, these almost abstracted portraits. Look at the way the paint drips, how it’s been dragged and layered. It’s not so much about concealing the process as it is about reveling in it. Take the right-hand side for instance, where the white streaks run down like rain, blurring the shapes beneath. It’s like the whole history of the painting is right there on the surface. This reminds me of some of Basquiat’s work, a similar rawness, a shared energy, like they are both plugged into the same frequency, channeling something urgent and real. Art like this is an ongoing conversation, a constant remix, and that's what makes it so alive.
