Curatorial notes

This photograph of an unknown man on a daybed was produced by Fong & Co. with an eye to creating a vision. The textures really come to life, don't they? The wicker furniture, the soft furnishings, it's all about layering textures, like a collage. It feels like the artist is playing with the possibilities of the medium, exploring what can be captured with light and shadow. I am struck by the details of the woven table. It seems to anchor the figure, holding him within the frame. I see echoes of Manet here, with the casual pose, but there's also something uniquely Fong & Co. It reminds us that art is always in conversation, always borrowing and transforming. This piece embraces uncertainty, and there's always more to discover.
