Curatorial notes

František Hudeček’s stained glass, a logo for the Czechoslovak company Tesla Radio, bathes the space in celestial symbols. The most prominent of which, the star motif, has illuminated human consciousness since antiquity. In ancient cultures, stars were often seen as guides, celestial beings influencing earthly affairs. In this image, the stars embedded in concentric circles evoke the cosmos, with Tesla at its center, suggesting technology’s potential to unlock the universe's secrets. Echoes of this symbolism resonate throughout history. Think of the star as it appears in ancient Mesopotamian art, or the guiding star in Christian iconography, all conveying divine guidance and hope. These symbols, like collective dreams, are passed down through generations, each culture imbuing them with new layers of meaning. The star here serves as a powerful reminder of humanity's enduring quest for knowledge and the psychological need to connect with something greater than ourselves. And so, the dance of symbols continues, each appearing, disappearing, and reappearing in new forms across time.
