Editor: This is a fascinatingly detailed engraving called "Alexander & High Priest of Jerusalem" by an anonymous artist. The image has a rather theatrical quality to it. What's your take on this piece? Curator: Well, it's as if two worlds are colliding, isn't it? You've got Alexander, the epitome of military might, humbled before the High Priest. I imagine the anonymous artist pondered the power of faith versus the power of conquest. Editor: That makes me wonder, could it also be a commentary on leadership, perhaps? Curator: Absolutely! It asks: what constitutes true greatness? Is it conquering lands, or inspiring belief? And that building in the back almost looks like a premonition of a church, doesn't it? Food for thought, indeed. Editor: I hadn't noticed that, but you're right! I'm so glad we took a closer look together.
