Curatorial notes

This page from a photo album contains snapshots of a woman, made by an anonymous photographer. The monochromatic images, with their thin, delicate paper and serrated edges, show a specific process of capturing and preserving memories. I love how the album page itself acts as a kind of canvas here. The photos are arranged with what looks like deliberate care, even if the adhesive has faded with time. The gray cardboard functions almost like a ground in a painting, creating a visual relationship between the images and the space around them. It makes me consider the physicality of the album, the act of turning pages, and the intimate, tactile experience of engaging with these personal artifacts. It is an ongoing conversation of images, across time. Like a Gerhard Richter atlas, or the work of Christian Boltanski, these photos invite contemplation. Ultimately, their meaning remains open, subject to our own interpretations and experiences.
