Cino Bozzetti created this evocative etching, "Woods on the Bank of a River," capturing a serene yet subtly animated landscape. Dominating the scene is a dense cluster of trees, their forms almost anthropomorphic in their postures. Think of the ancient motif of the sacred grove, a place of refuge, mystery, and transformation. We see echoes of this in Bozzetti’s work. The trees, bending as if whispering secrets, stir something primal within us. The moon, a timeless symbol of the cyclical nature of life, peers through the trees. From antiquity onwards, the moon appears as the deity that presides over changes and initiations. Consider how the forest appears in folklore, from the Brothers Grimm to the dark woods of Dante. The forest is a place of trials, symbolizing our innermost fears and desires, appearing again and again in our collective imagination. It is the eternal space where we lose and then find ourselves.
