Curatorial notes

Editor: This is Gerd Winner's "12. Sheet E." The stark, almost geometrical composition evokes a sense of urban isolation. What structural elements stand out to you? Curator: The juxtaposition of the imposing wall and the receding road creates a compelling dialogue between mass and perspective. Note how Winner uses the yellow lines to disrupt the planar surface, challenging our spatial perception. Editor: So, it's less about what is depicted, and more about how it's depicted? Curator: Precisely. The subject becomes secondary to the interplay of lines, shapes, and their arrangement. Winner offers us a formal exercise in seeing, wouldn't you agree? Editor: Definitely. I'm seeing a completely different picture now, it's really cool. Curator: Indeed, the visual construction surpasses the immediate subject of the image.
