Daan Lemaire created this glass sculpture, *A pair of goose,* the dimensions of which are 31 by 45 centimeters. Lemaire, born in 1942, lives and works in the Netherlands. Lemaire’s organic abstraction is rooted in the traditions of glass blowing, a historically gendered art form. The artist’s individual lived experience growing up in the Netherlands may be reflected in his choice of geese. Perhaps they are inspired by the landscapes of his youth. Do you feel the urge to reach out and touch the soft curves of the wings? Does the translucence of the glass evoke images of light filtering through water or ice? Lemaire captures the serene beauty of these birds in flight, encouraging us to reflect on nature’s delicate balance. Consider how glass, as a medium, affects the narrative. Does it offer a transparent lens through which to view the natural world? Or does it serve as a fragile reminder of nature’s vulnerability?
