Editor: Here we have Victor Pasmore’s “Points of Contact No. 24”. The stark contrast between the textured background and the bold, black shapes is really striking. What do you see in this piece? Curator: The rough texture of the ground evokes the industrial processes of its making. The black shapes, seemingly random, are deliberately placed, mimicking the fragmentation of labor in post-war production. Editor: So, the materials themselves are as important as the image they create? Curator: Precisely. The means of production and the physical qualities of the materials comment on the changing social and economic landscape. How do you think that relates to Pasmore's other works? Editor: I hadn't considered that. It adds a whole new layer to my understanding. Curator: Indeed, and now we both see it differently.
