Takashi Murakami made this mind-bending painting called 'Infinity', and just looking at it makes me think about how art is a process of accumulation. There's so much going on here; like a visual feast, a riot of color and imagery, where smiling flowers and skulls jostle for space on the canvas. What I love is the flatness, the sense that the whole thing is pushing forward, demanding your attention. It's meticulously done, with these crisp lines and vibrant colors that feel almost digitally precise. But when you look closer, you can see little imperfections, tiny variations in the brushwork that reveal the hand of the artist. Take that flower, near the top left, with the pale green face and the petals that seem to vibrate with energy. It’s as if it’s trying to break free from the surface, to reach out and grab you. Murakami’s work always reminds me a little of Yayoi Kusama; there's the same obsession with pattern, the same sense of endlessness. But where Kusama can feel claustrophobic, Murakami is somehow more playful, more optimistic. It’s a reminder that art can be both beautiful and unsettling, that it can embrace contradiction and ambiguity.
