Dadamaino made this field of marks, "L'inconscio razionale," and it's like she's charting something unknown with these tiny gestures. The limited palette of white on white makes the process of mark-making the main event. Up close, you can see how each dash and tick is carefully placed. There's a real physicality to it – the slight variations in pressure, the way the light catches the edges of the marks. It's as if each one is a little decision, a tiny act of defiance against the blank canvas. Notice how some marks are bolder, more insistent, while others seem to fade away. It's a subtle dance of presence and absence. It brings to mind Agnes Martin's grids, but with a more playful, almost scribbled energy. Dadamaino is really embracing the messy, imperfect nature of making, and that's what makes it so engaging.
