Umberto Boccioni drew this double-sided pencil sketch of seated figures on paper. You can see how the artist worked and reworked the lines of the figure. It's like he was trying to find the right form by feel, groping around, you know? I can almost feel him there, pencil in hand, those lines becoming a kind of conversation, back and forth between eye, hand, and subject. The verso, with its seated woman, adds another layer to this dialogue, like two sides of a thought. It reminds me of a drawing by Giacometti, where the repeated lines create a sense of searching, a kind of existential probing. Boccioni was part of this whole conversation with other artists, all trying to push the boundaries of what drawing could do, and how it could express the inner world, not just the outer one. It feels so intimate and immediate, like a glimpse into the artist's mind at work.
