Fernand Léger made *Ma Fleur Tricolore* with what looks like gouache or tempera. The paint handling is surprisingly matte. I'm immediately drawn to the flat planes of color, the yellow is really doing it for me, and the bold outlines. I can almost feel Léger moving the brush, carefully filling in each shape, like a mindful exercise. There's a real sense of play here, like he's inventing a new kind of visual language. It is almost as if it emerges, shifting through trial, error, and intuition. I wonder if he was thinking about machines or maybe even the way our bodies are put together. It also kind of reminds me of Stuart Davis, another artist who loved to mix abstraction and the everyday. I'm so curious about that white tendril wrapping around the central form... Ultimately, painting is all about seeing. It’s an ongoing conversation, and the best artists, like Léger, aren't afraid to leave room for uncertainty.
