Robert Falk painted "Crimea. Lombardy Poplar" with oils, and looking at it, I imagine him wrestling with that central tree, trying to capture its solid trunk and fluffy green top in these confident, almost architectural strokes. The way he builds up those greens and blues, it's like he's not just painting a landscape, but also a feeling. You can almost feel the sun beating down, and that makes me wonder what it was like for Falk to be there, painting this scene. I can imagine the artist layering color upon color to build this vision, each brushstroke is a dance of observation and intuition. There is a conversation happening between painters across time, where each artist contributes their voice. Falk’s painting is a reminder that painting isn’t just about what we see, but how we see and feel. It’s always a point of view, after all.
