This is a bra made of black cotton and tulle by Charmis. The tulle looks as thin as a wash of ink on canvas, like those almost-nothings in a Cy Twombly painting. It has been layered and collaged into existence. I wonder what Charmis was thinking when they made this? Perhaps about the balance between revealing and concealing, or about the way shadows and textures play on the body. Look at the fine lines and intricate details, each stitch and seam a deliberate act of construction. There's a delicacy to it, a vulnerability, but also a quiet strength. It reminds me of the work of textile artists who blur the lines between craft and fine art, transforming everyday materials into objects of profound beauty and meaning. Artists are always in conversation with one another, borrowing ideas, pushing boundaries, and questioning conventions. This bra, in its own way, challenges our expectations and invites us to see the world in a new light.
