Editor: This is *Der Venuswagen*, or Venus's Chariot, a book with lithographs by Lovis Corinth. The cover feels faded and worn, like it's carrying a secret. What can you tell me about it? Curator: Seeing this cover, I'm immediately drawn to the way Corinth uses the myth of Venus. Given the period, shouldn't we ask if it's a subversive reinterpretation? Perhaps Corinth is critiquing the idealised female form, reflecting the anxieties of the era, and how gender roles are being challenged? Editor: That's a fascinating perspective. I hadn't considered the social commentary. Thanks for pointing that out! Curator: It prompts us to question the established norms of art and society, doesn't it?
