This is a black and white photograph of an El Al airplane on a runway, complete with Hebrew markings and an ambulance parked nearby. It’s like a little stage set, right? The image is a study in contrasts: the massive airplane, a symbol of travel and connection, looms in the background, while the ambulance in the foreground whispers of the unexpected turns life can take. It’s all captured in this soft, grainy texture, which feels both historical and immediate. The way the light catches the curves of the plane makes it look like a giant toy. But then you notice the Hebrew letters painted on the ground, bold and angular, anchoring the scene in a specific time and place. They speak of a collective identity, of a community being built. This photograph reminds us that every image is a record, but also an invitation to imagine the stories unfolding just beyond the frame. It reminds me of work by Sophie Calle, who has a great eye for the hidden narrative.
