Glennray Tutor created this painting, Domino, with incredible realism, it's like he’s daring us to question what's real and what's painted. He teases the eye, playing with how we perceive depth and texture. Looking closely, the glass jars are the stars of the show, aren’t they? Each one is stacked with objects that are half-submerged in a murky liquid. The light is bouncing every which way, creating these liquid sheens. The way the objects are distorted through the glass and liquid is fantastic. It's as if you could reach out and touch the slickness of the glass or feel the weight of the objects sinking. The colour palette is very controlled, which enhances the realness of the objects. It reminds me of the Dutch masters who would spend hours rendering every little detail with such finesse. It makes you wonder, what's the line between representation and reality, and does it even matter?
