This drawing, made by Akira Kanayama, is a real explosion of energy in red and black ink. I can imagine him, pen in hand, creating this frenetic dance across the page. It’s like watching a visual record of a mind in motion, a kind of organized chaos. Those tangled lines – they feel so urgent. Like he’s trying to capture something fleeting, maybe an emotion or a thought that’s just out of reach. It reminds me of Cy Twombly's scribbles, but with a Japanese twist, a kind of calligraphic frenzy. You know, painting is a way of thinking, but with your hands. I wonder what Kanayama was thinking when he made this? Maybe he was just letting his hand lead the way, allowing the ink to trace the contours of his inner world. It’s a messy, beautiful kind of truth. And in a world full of slick surfaces, there's something really refreshing about that honesty.
