Editor: Here we have Lovis Corinth's "Castle by the Sea," a stone lithograph. It’s dreamlike and a bit melancholy. What draws your eye when you look at this piece? Curator: I see a memory, a half-forgotten fairytale clinging to the rocks. The castle, bathed in a sort of hazy golden light, isn't quite solid. It's as if Corinth captured not just a place, but the feeling of a place, wouldn't you agree? Editor: Definitely! I see how the castle almost melts into the landscape. Curator: Exactly! The roughness of the lithograph adds to that ephemeral quality, as though the castle might vanish with the next tide. A meditation on time, perhaps? Editor: That's a perspective I hadn't considered. I'll definitely remember that. Curator: It’s funny how art can sneak up on you like that.
