Editor: This is an untitled photograph by Harris & Ewing, depicting young athletes, perhaps from Georgetown Prep, in their relay uniforms. It has an ethereal quality, almost like a ghostly memory. What strikes you about it? Curator: It's as if time itself is a runner, always fleeting. The inversion gives it a dreamlike, almost x-ray quality, doesn't it? I wonder if they felt this immortal, poised before the race, or if they were just focused on the starting gun? Editor: That's a beautiful thought! I hadn't considered the sense of immortality, but now I see it. Curator: It makes you wonder about the stories behind these faces, the races they ran, the victories and defeats. It's more than just a photo; it’s a suspended moment, now bathed in a strange, inverted light. Editor: Exactly! I’ll never look at old photographs the same way again.
