Editor: So here we have Jeff Koons' "BEAR (Blue)," part of the Tate collection. It's surprisingly large! I'm struck by how simplified and almost cartoonish it is. What do you make of it? Curator: Ah, yes, Koons. It’s blue, it's a bear, and it’s undeniably him. Do you think its simplicity is deceptive? It's a mirror, a reflection, both literally and figuratively of our desires, our culture. What do we want to see when we look at it? Ourselves, maybe? Editor: I guess I was expecting something deeper, but I see what you mean about it being a mirror. Curator: And sometimes the truest depths are found on the surface, wouldn't you agree? Editor: I think I'll have to reflect on that. Thanks!
