This is a print called Pique I, by Pablo Picasso. It’s all about the push and pull, the dance between dark and light, figure and ground. The reddish-brown ink, against the pale tan of the paper, gives it this earthy, immediate feel. Look at how Picasso carves away at the block to create these stark contrasts. He’s not trying to hide the process, you know? Each cut is so clear, so decisive. I’m drawn to the way he renders the bull. It's just a few bold shapes. Yet, you feel the animal's power, its raw energy. It's like Picasso is saying, "I don't need all the details to capture the essence." It reminds me a little of Goya, that same sense of drama, that raw, visceral energy. Art isn't about answers. It's about the questions we ask, the feelings we stir up along the way.
