This gold armband, made by Dutch Chain Works, is a study in repetition and subtle variation. Each link a little world, connected to the next, forming a continuous, glittering stream. I imagine the artist carefully crafting each element, thinking about how they connect, and considering the way they look when light bounces off the metal. There's something comforting in the regularity, the repeating rhythm of shapes, but also a spark of individuality in each slightly different form. It’s not mechanical, it’s more like a dance. It reminds me that even within the most rigid structures, like a chain, there's still room for the hand, for the unique touch that makes it human. I think it’s cool that artists are constantly talking to each other, across time, learning and riffing off each other's ideas, always finding new ways to see the world. And in that sense, this chain isn't just an object. It's a symbol of connection, of ongoing exchange, which I really love.
