This Scottie Dog still bank, made by an anonymous artist and made of glazed ceramic, is just begging for a bit of attention, isn't it? Look at the way the colors blend, like watercolor paints. Someone wasn't afraid to let the medium do its thing. I'm just fascinated by the glaze on this piece. It’s drippy and thick. It's like the artist let the glaze do its thing, creating these glossy rivers and pools. It's so expressive, especially around the dog’s face, giving it this really soulful, almost melancholic look. See how the white stripe down its chest isn't perfectly even? It adds to the charm, like a happy accident frozen in time. This reminds me of some of Joan Brown's early ceramic self-portraits, where the glaze has a similar sense of movement and texture. It feels very personal, like a fingerprint of the artist's process. Maybe that's the point, to see the art in the making and not just the made thing.
