Curator: This is William James Müller’s “Fourteen Stars Inn, Counterslip.” Editor: It looks like it’s breathing! The way the building leans… it’s almost comical. Curator: Müller was known for his architectural studies. Notice how he captures the inn’s timber framing. In British culture, inns carry so much history, don't they? They're spaces for community, travel, and storytelling. Editor: Absolutely. And the almost monochromatic palette gives it a ghostly feel. You can almost hear the clatter of hooves and the murmur of conversation. It's like a half-remembered dream. Curator: The horse and wagon add to this sense, referencing the transient nature of the inn's patrons. A subtle but powerful symbol. Editor: It does make you wonder about the stories held within those walls. I might have to write a poem about that. Curator: Maybe this sepia-toned world could inspire a short story.
