Twins Seven Seven made this masked ceremony, it seems, with ink and dye. Look at that palette, right? Those reds, oranges, and pinks! It's like a sunset and a sunrise all at once. The ink is applied in layers, creating this really dense, active surface. Up close, it's all tiny lines and dots, a network of marks that vibrate on the canvas. Check out the legs of the characters to the bottom left: these are rendered in incredible detail - you can almost feel the texture of the skin. Seven Seven’s process is so clear to see, and the texture created really brings out the ceremonial feeling, like a ritual. The artist is inviting you to look closer, to get lost in the details, and to find your own way through the narrative. Kind of like the work of Philip Guston, who also made up his own language. This piece is more than just a picture; it's an invitation to participate.
