Editor: This is Moyses van Uyttenbroeck's "Tobias and the Angel Raphael," it is undated and rendered in etching. The landscape feels both grand and intimate. What do you make of its depiction of the biblical story? Curator: Ah, yes, a visual poem! Look at how Uyttenbroeck uses light and shadow; the figures almost emerge from the landscape, don't they? It's as if he's inviting us to imagine the divine in the everyday. Have you ever felt watched over like that? Editor: I suppose there are moments. I hadn't quite connected it to feeling watched over, though, just a nice landscape and figures. Curator: Maybe the artist wanted us to feel that connection subtly, like a whisper in the wind. It’s a reminder that beauty and faith can be found in the most unexpected corners. Editor: That gives me something to think about, the landscape being as important as the figures themselves. Thank you!
