This Corpus Christi page features an image that encapsulates a pivotal scene of spiritual communion. At its center, the Holy Trinity hovers above the apostles, evoking the descent of the Holy Spirit, a scene rich in symbolic and religious significance. Note how the motif of divine descent echoes across time. Consider the ancient Roman depictions of emperors receiving divine favor, or even earlier Egyptian pharaohs depicted with gods bestowing power. The visual language of authority and divine blessing transcends cultural boundaries, resurfacing here in a Christian context. The collective memory embedded in these gestures—the raised hands, the downward gaze of the divine—speaks to the power of archetypes. These images touch on deep, subconscious levels, stirring emotions tied to faith, hope, and spiritual fulfillment. The symbol's journey is not linear but cyclical. The iconography in this manuscript echoes ancient themes, resurfacing, evolving, and acquiring new significance, inviting us to contemplate the enduring power of images across time.

The initial "I" of Immolabit (He will be sacrificed) shows Christ and the apostles at the Last Supper, a reference to the sacrament of the Eucharist. Along the lower edge, Abraham and the twelve tribes of Israel prefigure this scene. Among the tendril motifs in the border are figures of Adam and Eve and possibly Abel leaning on his staff (at right), a putto (top center), and a pilgrim looking up at a peacock, a symbol of immortality (on the left). Above the peacock, a monster with a turbaned human head represents non-Christians, probably Muslims or Jews. The coat of arms in the lower margin is that of Cardinal Pedro de Mendoza, who commissioned this and many other precious manuscripts around 1484, after he became archbishop of Toledo.
