Editor: So, this is "Marriage of Saint Catherine" by George Jakob Felsing. It's a print, with an intimate feel, but I'm unsure how to interpret it beyond that. What stands out to you? Curator: Well, doesn't it just whisper of whispered secrets? The tender way the figures are rendered suggests it's less about the grand spectacle and more about the inward grace. It's a print, so it has to work with contrast, the shadows creating a beautiful space around them. What do you make of the landscape peeking out? Editor: It seems almost secondary, like a backdrop to this central connection. Is there a reason for that? Curator: Perhaps it is symbolic. The world fades away when you are in this space. The artist is saying it is not about what is around, but about what is within. It makes one think, doesn't it? Editor: It does. The quietness and the bond between these figures are really something. I’ll definitely look at prints differently now.
