This is an untitled print by Joan Miró, made at an unknown date, probably using lithography or etching. The forms are so playful here, like a visual language being invented on the spot. The palette is really spare - blues, reds, yellows and blacks, colours that vibrate with a playful energy. The texture, if you look closely, is full of tiny constellations. It's really nice to see how the colours have been laid down, one on top of the other, with the black marks snaking across the composition. They are like lines in space. There's a little red dribble at the bottom of the image - the artist seems happy to let things be a little loose! I'm reminded of Paul Klee who explored a similar kind of visual vocabulary, but Miró's forms feel more like they are dancing. Ultimately, art is a conversation, an invitation to see the world anew.
