Lidy Prati created this untitled work with ink on paper; it's all lines, thick and thin, that dart and intersect, anchoring themselves in dotted points. I imagine Prati, poised over the blank page, pen in hand, feeling the push and pull of geometric forms, thinking about the order that can emerge from chaos. Look at how the lines have a real sense of energy. The differing thickness and densities of the line create depth and movement across the surface. The black ink is both bold and delicate, assertive and understated. Each stroke feels deliberate, yet spontaneous. The dark ink against the stark white paper creates a sense of clarity, a starkness that strips away any unnecessary detail. It reminds me of other geometric abstractionists I admire, like Sophie Taeuber-Arp, yet Prati’s drawing possesses its own unique language. These artists engage in a visual conversation across time and space, echoing and amplifying each other's voices. It's cool to consider how Prati and other artists used the language of abstraction as a way of making sense of the modern world.
