Editor: This is *The Book of the Dead* by Dame Elisabeth Frink. It is a print, part of the Tate collection. There's a figure, maybe two, rendered in a very ethereal way. What do you make of it? Curator: Looking at Frink's work through a historical lens, I consider the public role of her art. How did her experiences shape her representations of the human form, particularly in the context of post-war anxieties? Editor: Post-war anxieties? Can you explain that a little more? Curator: Certainly. The visual language of vulnerability here could be a direct response to the collective trauma of the era, don't you think? It makes one question the socio-political dynamics influencing the artist. Editor: That's a perspective I hadn't considered. It’s much more than just the form. Thanks!
